Hope you’re doing well on your end. Since my last note in September I’ve been on the air and in the air. In the last six weeks I’ve journeyed from New York City to the Panamanian rainforest. However, no trip was more fun or spooktastic than the jaunt around my street for Halloween.
I even had the privilege of escorting royalty. In fact pictured here is her highness, Princess Teaghan, who fearlessly subdued urban wildlife that we encountered on our doorstep. The 32-pound skunk was quite harmless. Content actually. And drooling.
LIVIN’ ON THE EDGE
To quote great Canadian poet, Leonard Cohen, “First we take Manhattan.” That we did in fine style. Yes it’s a cliché, even a slogan, but I LOVE New York. The energy is palpable and autumn is a fantastic time to be there.
It’s also a wonderful city to walk around. On this particular day our (new) shoes took us from Union Square to Time Square where the boys (and girl) in blue were more than happy to pose for my mug shot. This was taken just before the 12-car pile-up.
While in the Big Apple we ventured to EDGE Studio, one of the most acclaimed voice over facilities (below).
A TROPICAL TRIP
“Going from one extreme to another” (def.) / I’m in New York, one week, Central America, another. (Granted, yes, they’re both jungle regions). It was my fourth time in as many years returning to beautiful Panama to MC a seminar on the ‘Secrets of Success’with international speakers dominating the three day conference. Following my hosting duties I would return to my hotel room where I had my portable studio waiting to look after my other clients, wherever they were. My colleagues atThe Weather Network got a kick out of the fact I was recording their sponsorship bumpers from smack dab in the middle of the rain forest (tropical bird sound effects were removed accordingly). While my schedule fills up doing voice overs and on-camera hosting, I also thrive being on stage for clients as master of ceremonies. Drop me a line if you need something along those lines.
HANGING OUT WITH THE GANG
This update, being the ‘Nomad-a-Where-I’ve-Been‘ edition, also has me trekking to L.A., Chicago, Boston and London, England. Via microphone and script, that is. The ISDN recording sessions I did across the Atlantic a while back for a co-British production are finally ready for broadcast as a 4-part mini-series, UNDERWORLD HISTORIES II.
Though I’ve been moving around the last 6 weeks like a client in the witness protection program, these characters are truly acquainted with that routine.
From Al and the boys in Chicago to the Irish mob in Boston; from the Bloods & Crips in L.A. to the n’er do wells in England who gave new meaning to “a bloody mess”.

YA DON’T SAY! ACTUALLY, A CLIENT RECENTLY SAID:
“Rory….Just wanted to let you know that we are all very pleased with your work. Your voice style works perfectly! Once again I want to thank you for accommodating our schedule and we look forward to working with you on our next project.”
