My vocation has me recording in small booths. That recording will then be edited to use in a radio or TV commercial, or for a corporate narration such as a medical procedure or eLearning project. Sometimes the recording is used for events like awards dinners or conferences. Occasionally, the client requests that the announcements are done live, side stage, during the event. Recently, I had the privilege of being on stage to perform the live narration for an epic concert presentation. Close to one thousand guests attended the world premiere of “Bound for Canada – A Musical Journey from Hardship to Hope” ~ an epic composition depicting the harrowing journey of Irish famine migrants en route to the Americas in 1847. * * * * * * As a child of Irish immigrants, it was a distinct honour to be part of such an immense production that included forty musicians and sixty singers. My six narrative segments were intended to weave historical context into music and song that filled Toronto’s elegant as part of Irish Heritage Month in March. From the Winter Garden Theatre’s 113-yr old stage in Toronto to the brand new OLG Stage down the road in Niagara Falls. It’s a privilege to return as the voice for Fallsview Casino’s concert division following the past few years of, well, ya know, that whole surreal period. We witnessed Billy Joel christen the beautiful hall in February. Click this link to hear one of the many other artists set to grace the stage of the impressive new 5000-seat venue. |
Finally, I’m Batman. Well, actually, um, no…I was a reporter in the pilot for the new Batman-themed TV show “Gotham Knights”. Don’t blink or you’ll miss me at the 50-second mark in this trailer for the latest offering from the CW Network (airing on Showcase in Canada) |
